At 9.30pm on Wednesday 28th March
2007, MERO-SCHMIDLIN (UK) PLC completed the main curtain wall installation on Foster
and Partners skyscraper 'The Willis Building', at 51 Lime Street in the City of London.
Two vertical strips remain to be installed at later dates (West elevation end of April
2007, East elevation May 2007) following the removal of the two external access hoists to
the building by construction manager Mace, which are required for the fit out of the
building. MERO-SCHMIDLIN (UK) PLC's first unitised curtain walling project since partnering with Swiss sister company SCHMIDLIN-TSK in April 2006, has successfully reached this significant milestone early, with three weeks of the installation programme still in hand. Located adjacent to the Lloyds Building in the City of London, The Willis Building's curtain walling has been designed and manufacturered by the same team as the nearby Swiss Re (30 St. Mary's Axe), National Westminster Tower and Commercial Union Buildings, and is a stunning addition to London's evolving skyline. |
